Decoding the Energy Code

Description:Improving energy efficiency standards for building construction supports Alberta’s Climate Change Strategy, which looks to energy efficiency and conservation as one of the three main approaches to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing demand on Alberta’s energy resources.  Alberta adopted into regulation the 2011 edition of the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB). With it, energy efficiency requirements for housing and small buildings are required under the Alberta Building Code. All these changes came into force November 1, 2016.  As this is new to the Province, come and hear the major features of the NECB and how it may impact how you are required to design buildings under the code.
Speaker: Nabil Habashy, Architect, AAA, MRAIC, LEED@AP, BSCO CRBO, NCSO. Building/Fire Technical Advisory, Alberta Government - Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Community and Technical Support.
